It aids in the breakdown of fats, helps in the reduction of blood cholesterol levels and helps to prevent the thinning of hair. Neurotransmitters such as serotonin in the brain depend on Inositol to function properly. There appears to be some evidence that decreased levels of Inositol may have a role to play in people suffering from depression.
